Spring Edgewater Clean-Ups
FOESP is partnering with Sustainable Water 2019 on a series of beach clean-ups this year. They will be held the first Saturday of the month. At the clean-ups we will collect data for Adopt-A-Beach, a program of the Alliance for the Great Lakes which monitors beach pollution region-wide.
Our first clean-up of the year took place Saturday, April 2nd. Despite a weather forecast of high 42 and raining, it turned out to be sunny and breezy. We had a good turnout considering the forecast, with 27 volunteers. Sen Mike Skindell and Rep. Nickie Antonio came out to help too. We collected over 162 pounds of trash.
Here’s some more spring Edgewater Park clean-ups to let you know about.
Saturday, April 16th, 10am-1pm Edgewater State Park Clean Up
In honor of Global Youth Service Day, Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization is collaborating with HandsOn Ohio , Friends of Edgewater, and Sustainable Water 2019 to organize an Edgewater Park/Lakefront clean up. We need volunteers of all ages to beautify the park and lakefront. Supplies will be provided. We look forward to giving our beloved Lakefront a thorough spring cleaning! This is another great opportunity for scout troops, fraternities, sororities, religious organizations, or any other community group looking to serve.
We will meet at the Lower Pavilion at 10am. Ample parking is available and volunteers will be dispersed throughout the park and lakefront. Please RSVP to Angela Shuckahosee at 216-961-4242 ext 225 or ashuckahosee@dscdo.org if you or a group can help.
